Preamble Whereas, The Asian-Pacific American community is a significant minority population in the State; and Whereas, In the Executive Branch there exist offices to assist other minority groups, including the Office of Minority Affairs, the Maryland Commission for Women, the Commission on Indian Affairs, and the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs; and Whereas, The Asian-Pacific American community and the State would benefit from the creation of a similar office to assist and promote the interest and needs of the Asian-Pacific American community; now, therefore, |
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND
(A) “Asian- Pacific American” means an individual with national origins from:
(B) The General Assembly requests the governor to establish an Office on Asian- Pacific American Affairs in the Executive Branch. © Subject to the limitations of any law that governs the activities of other units of the Executive Branch of the State government, the Office shall:
